At Dot & Type, accessibility is not an afterthought. It sits at the very heart of everything I do. My work focuses on transforming printed materials into braille and large-print so that people with visual impairments can engage with the world independently, confidently and with pride.
What I Offer
I provide a wide range of transcription services to meet the needs of different clients.
Braille Transcription: I can convert printed material into braille, including utility bills, menus, personal letters, business documents and educational resources. I also work with materials in more than one language!
Large Print Services: For those who benefit from enhanced readability, I create high-quality large-print versions with clear contrast, tailored font sizes and custom layouts. Documents can also be laminated in matt or gloss and bound for ease of use.
Greeting Cards: I design greeting cards that combine playful, quirky artwork with braille so that special occasions such as birthdays, anniversaries and holidays can be celebrated inclusively. Each card has a cut-off corner to help with orientation (a Dot & Type trademark).
Corporate Accessibility Solutions: I support businesses that want to make their businesses more inclusive. From employee handbooks and safety policies to guidance with accessible signage, I provide practical services that follow recognised standards.
Why I Started Dot & Type
Dot & Type is more than a business. It is a personal mission. I founded it after working for seven years with a student who was blind from birth. Supporting her gave me invaluable insight into the barriers she faced every day, whether that was reading a party invite, preparing schoolwork or reading a simple letter.
That experience inspired me to build a service that delivers more than documents. I wanted to create something that gives people with visual impairments greater independence and confidence. Accessibility for me has never been about ticking boxes. It has always been about ensuring that everyone has the same opportunity to participate fully in life.
My Mission
The mission of Dot & Type is straightforward. I want to remove barriers by making information accessible. Whether I am transcribing a utility bill, producing an accessible handbook for a business or designing a braille greetings card, the purpose remains the same. I want people with visual impairments to access information freely and with pride and why not make it fun and stylish at the same time!?
